HISTORY

Special Forces Unit Patch
The Special Forces Unit Patch is comprised of three designs: Arrowhead, Dagger, and Lightning Bolts.

The Arrowhead makes up the body of the patch and represents the craft and stealth of the American Indian. It is from the American Indian that unconventional warfare was adopted during the Indian Wars of the 18th and 19th century.

The Dagger is centered in the body of the patch. The upwards dagger represents the silent and deadly weapon. It is a symbol of unconventional warfare fought up close on the enemy's territory. The character of the Special Forces soldier is represented by the straight and true edge of the blade.

The three Lightning Bolts strike left to right across the blade of the dagger. This is a symbol represents the Special Forces soldiers blinding speed, strength and stealth. The lightning bolts also represent the 3 methods of infiltration, by land, sea, and air.
